Move a file into the format you actually need

Simple conversions — images to PDF, PDF to images, text encoding, colour and case changes — run in the browser with no upload at all. Document conversions are different. Turning a PDF back into an editable Word file, or reading a spreadsheet out of a PDF table, needs a real layout engine, so those tools send the file to our own processing service, convert it in memory and delete it the instant the download is streamed back. Nothing is written to permanent storage and nothing is retained for training.

We say this plainly because most competitors do not. Every converter page states whether it runs locally or on the server, and the server-side ones show the file size cap up front rather than failing after a two-minute wait. Text extraction preserves reading order, tables come back as real table rows instead of loose text, and Office conversions go through LibreOffice so the fonts and spacing match what you would get from the desktop application.
